Real Face of Democracy (Indian Democracy)
I'm here writing this article to mention the demerits of the democratic system of India, which may or may not affect other democratic nations. Democracy gives a person lot of promises including equality and lot of other democratic rights to the citizen of the nation that is the main reason why people worldwide prefer to live in a democratic country. For that dream most people start large protest against other forms of governments to make their nation fully democratic, countries like Nepal witnessed such nationwide protests. But before dreaming for a democratic nation and starting big protest no one is thinking about the problems which a nation would face when it became a democratic nation. So I with this article am making all know what are the problems a country as a democratic country would face by keeping country India as an example which is considered as one of the best democracies in the world
Some history
India is a developing country which is the world's seventh largest country, India is a country with enormous diversities and a big percentage of uneducated citizens, as a country the above mentioned are the main problems faced by India. For about 65 years ago king rule was practiced in India instead of democracy and then British peoples came to India and became the rulers of India. The British ruled India for about a century, then in 1947Indiagot independence. After the independence of India the great freedom fighters of India erased our king's rule and established democracy in India. The great men does so because to give everyone equal importance. The main slogan of Indian democracy was "All are equal before law". Then while the practice of democracy many problems arises. Here are some of the problems faced by India as a democratic country.
The uneducated rulers and voters
India is a country with majority population being under educated. As a democratic country which consider all as equal most politicians or rulers are uneducated, but none of the voters consider the candidate's educational status. While election religion, cast, money&muscle power are the main criteria of electing a ruler by the undereducated common people of the country. None is trying to think what the entire candidate could do for them as a ruler. So most elected rulers of the country are not at all having the ability to become a ruler. This type of electing make the nation lack of good rulers and thus good future of the country get buried in a graveyard of rich candidates. Even notorious criminals became candidates because that they are rich and powerful. Most think politics as a way to earn more not a chance to serve the nation and thus they try to get votes by giving money and liquors and blackmailing the voters. Thus the governing council of the country is now full of bureaucrats and criminals.
The minister position
After the election the ruling party has to give some winning candidates different minister positions, there comes a big problem. Most of the national parties who participate in election are combined by many internal groups. So most of these groups will blackmail the chief of the main party demanding more minister positions for their members, the chief those is forced to give the minister position to the group members in a frightens of resigning of groups, the resigning of a single group may result in losing the ruling position. So the chief gives minister positions to the suggested group members and most of these may not can became a good ruler and which may affect all the country men inversely. The chief leader wants his party to be in the ruling positions and thus the ministry will be full of ineligible ministers. And good rulers wont be their for the country's prosperity.
The opposing opposition
The need for an opposition party in democracy is to control the ruling party in taking unwanted decisions. But in case of India this role is mostly used for negative purposes. The opposition party opposes each and every decision by the ruling party either good or bad. This is done so that the ruling party does not get a good image among the voters so that they could be prevented from re-electing. But this opposing nature affects the rights of citizens
Corruption
Corruption is a major problem faced by a democratic country like India. The every day news of the country floods the news of corruption cases against the rulers. Elected members in both opposition and ruling part will be a part of corruption in return of getting tons of currency so that they could be rich as fast as they could. Some times both the ruling and opposing party members together will corrupt in return of money. When the rulers use their given powers to corrupt the people who gave them the power is affected.
Unwanted strikes and protests
When the decision making get denied or get lated or any of the corruption from the ruling party members get caught the opposition party members will get on the street to protest against the ruling party so that the ruling party got a bad image. These strikes are mostly unwanted and sometimes the strikes may get in to violence and may result even in life harms. None of the shops are allowed to open or vehicles are not allowed to be on road on a strike day by the strikers. The police persons do not have the right to stop the strike because that the democracy says so. The common people are affected greatly by these unwanted strikes. None of the office will work on a strike day and schools will get shut down. These unnecessary strikes are a major problem for all Indians
Conclusion
The above mentioned are some of the main problems faced by India as a democratic country. This article is for all who blindly believes that democracy is in all means good for a country. Democracy is good for a country if it has good rulers and is corruption free. But as we say every coin has two faces democracy also has another face. The above are all happening in India a democratic country. Thank you for showing patience for reading the article your comments are very much required.
